International Experience Presents : Arabic language lessons

In this project you study one level of a three-level program for teaching Egyptian colloquial Arabic. Egyptian Arabic is the most widely used and most understood accent through out the Arab World. This is due to the pioneering role that Egyptian media has been playing in the region. We aim at giving our students the language skills needed to communicate ALL OVER the Arab World.

And what better spot to study than beautiful Alexandria, Egypt. Only two hours from Cairo by high-speed train, Alexandria is a seaside gem has something for everyone. An incredibly cosmopolitan city with a 5,000 year history!

We pride ourselves in our cultural immersion program, whereby learning does not merely take place in the classroom. Our students have the chance to practice their Arabic in authentic situations with the help of their teachers. Our program focuses on the link between two major values: culture and communication. What makes our course special is our cultural immersion program. It stems from our belief that learning a language necessarily requires learning about the culture. A significant part of our course is dedicated to activities that aim at exploring the Egyptian culture and practicing Arabic in authentic situations. In a typical week, classes are taken four days and one day is dedicated for cultural immersion activities. These are not purely fun activities, but rather they are an integrated part of the course. Your teachers will accompany you in these activities. You will not be stuck behind a desk for classes. Your classes will also be in the streets, a local café, or in a typical Egyptian home.

Examples of possible activities:

  • At a restaurant:

Students will have dinner at a local Egyptian restaurant where they will be exposed to Egyptian types of food, order their own food in Arabic, and they will be introduced to Egyptian eating traditions.

  • The Movies:

Students will watch an Egyptian movie and discuss the cultural aspects it shows.

  • One-day trip to Cairo:

Students will visit different places and get familiarized with the historic and cultural background of each.

  • Participating in celebrations of national, religious and special days in Egyptian culture:

There are lots of them in Egypt; so whenever you take the course, you will have the opportunity to LIVE one!!

And many other activities depending on what time of the year you take your course.

We have both Beginners and Intermediate classes and at only $100 per week there is no better (and cheaper) place to study Arabic!
